Background

Madison Li was born to an influential doctor, well-known in many circles as being at the top of his game. This, however, applied to the occult as well. Li Xiang was both a brilliant doctor and also a powerful sorcerer. The two things were largely unrelated until he met Aurora Williams. The beautiful woman captivated him at once and he was smitten; putty in her hands. He would have done anything to keep her happy, and mostly did. When she announced that she wanted to have a baby, the two got married. Xiang started experimental fertility treatments on Aurora — after he found out her true nature. The woman was a Peisinoe demon. Breeding with her proved difficult, but in the end, they managed to become pregnant with triplets. Only one of the embryos survived in the end — the child that would become Madison.

Madison was born and everything seemed fine… until Aurora grew restless. When Madison turned two, her mother left. Up and gone. Even Xiang didn't know where Aurora went, though he was devastated. He focused all of his energy on Madison, although he was a severely broken man after the love of his life disappeared without seemingly any trace. Madison's first power manifested when she was quite young. At her fifth birthday party, she became irate with another child. What resulted was an all out tiny tot wrestling match. The party had to be broken up — especially after Madison's demon blood caused an interesting change in her; the appearance of tiny, iridescent scales all over her skin whenever she was stressed. This prevented Madison from being admitted to normal society for a while. She was home-schooled by her father. Madison lived a sheltered life, rarely allowed to socialize with anyone from the outside world, her father telling her that she was 'special', but not in the slow kind of way. He said that she had potential that no one else would understand.

It was then that Xiang came clean to Madi about her true heritage. Upon learning she was a demon with supernatural powers, she went into full-on teen angst mode. But try as she might, she just couldn't be angry at her father. After all, he was the only person in the world that she had. And the only person who understood her. She threw herself into her studies and excelled well-enough. She was allowed to take a gymnastics class under her father's supervision, and it was here that Madison got some of her first doses of human interaction. She kept her emotional influence in check when she knew it would lead to harmful situations, though it took a lot of finesse and practice. After that, she was also allowed to take a karate class, to further discipline her in controlling her powers. Her father was her only ally.

Eventually, Madison graduated her high school courses with a GED. She applied to a closeby community college and was accepted. She continued to live at home while she was studying massage therapy — and also learning about the occult from her father. Madison continued taking karate courses, using the classes to heighten her awareness of the world around her. The lessons proved useful; she soon had a sixth sense about her and could sense danger easily. Her reflexes sharpened thanks to her discipline with her continued karate and gymnastics practice. Madison graduated college and decided to travel around the United States for a while. Her father was greatly opposed to this, but Madison left anyways.

She eventually returned home, having gained some experience in life. It wasn't long after returning home that her world came crashing down. Xiang had learned that Aurora died some years ago in childbirth — giving birth to a son. Since Madison never really knew her mother, she didn't feel too much sadness about the subject. However, she was more intrigued at the thought of having half-brother. Xiang did not mourn well. The man killed himself shortly afterwards, leaving Madison to pick up the pieces. She sold the family home and pursued trying to find out where her little brother was. She spent some time in Texas investigating, trying to look for clues. After spending roughly a year in Texas, Madison has decided to pack it up and leave for Las Vegas. Her search for her brother still continues, but in the mean time, living life to the fullest with the least amount of complication will suffice.
