Livia Malcolm is the Division Head for Special Projects at the Las Vegas branch office of Wolfram & Hart. It should be noted that this position is often that of de facto CEO, unless the branch office has such a person specifically denoted; Special Projects tends to oversee other divisions.
Description
Livia Malcolm is a tall, elegant woman who looks to be about thirty-five. She has long, dark brunette hair and steely grey eyes, her face bearing a strangely ageless quality. Her nose is prominent but not unattractively so, and she tends toward understated makeup and jewelry that emphasize her natural features rather than adding an illusory cast to the face.
Malcolm favors designer suits in dark colors, often black, navy blue, or a deep purple. Her skirts are usually cut just a tiny bit higher than one might expect an executive's pencil skirt to be cut… no doubt this is to show off her legs, which are quite toned and presumably a feature she is proud of. Her high-heeled pumps make her that much taller; she's about 5'11" in two-inch heels.
Background
Livia Dolores Malcolm was born to a middle-class family in New York and had a relatively normal upbringing given those circumstances. Sure, her father was a deadbeat who couldn't hold a job for very long and her mother was a pushover drunk, but really nothing out of the ordinary characterized her childhood and adolescence. There is no sob story or singular childhood trauma to explain her opportunistic, amoral nature; it's simply how she was born. After working hard both in school and out, - and earning a number of scholarships - Livia paid her own way through Bryn Mawr for undergraduate work and Harvard Law for legal studies. Hand-picked from her graduating class by Holland Manners of Wolfram & Hart, she quickly got to work in the firm's main Los Angeles office as an attorney for Special Projects.
Adapting to the infernal nature of Wolfram & Hart without breaking a sweat, Malcolm was one of the more competent attorneys working under Manners, who was at the time Division Vice President for Special Projects at the Los Angeles office. When the Las Vegas branch office needed a new Division Vice President for Special Projects, Manners suggested Malcolm for the promotion. This was approximately a year before Manners was promoted to Division Head for Special Projects (Angel 1.21 "Blind Date"), and two years before he was killed by the vampire Darla (Angel 2.10 "Reunion"). His word already held enough sway by this point to ensure that Livia secured the transfer and promotion.
Now, about six years later, Malcolm is the recently promoted Division Head for Special Projects at the Las Vegas branch office, after the previous Division Head displeased the Senior Partners and was summarily dismissed. (Rumor has it his head was dismissed before the rest of him.) A brutal, coldhearted manipulator of a woman, she is prepared to do anything and everything possible to maintain her position of power and the firm's power base in Sin City.
