Background
Fidelix Graham was born in Modesto California, the third child of Wilmot and Shree Graham. His parents, social workers, were reformed hippies and as such had a strong altruistic streak in them and raised their children to be the same. Needless to say, his parents held some views that many might consider 'unorthodox' or extreme. They believed in the accounts of the Bible literally and took everything it stated as absolute truth and fact.
Despite having 'Super Christians' for parents, Fidelix had a fairly regular childhood (weird name notwithstanding). Bookish yet sociable, he grew up in a stable home. His family was very active in Christian aid work, so there wasn't a weekend that went by when young Del wasn't out feeding the homeless, helping to build low cost housing, or some other such charitable work. No surprise, Del was very active in his church.
Early on, Del distinguished himself as quite the public speaker. Though shy and introspective, he was a soft-spoken yet charismatic orator. He had the unique gift of being able to connect with his audience and to reach them with the sincerity of his words. He also had a compassion and concern for his fellow man. He was given to serving and helping others in whatsoever way he could. So before he even hit high school, he was earmarked for ministry. Del didn't mind this as he wholehearted believed in serving his community. He also had strong faith and believed that this was God's will for his life, to be a minister. Del and his siblings were alternately home schooled then sent to Christian school. Upon graduating high school, Del attended the University of California - Santa Barbara where he got his undergrad in Religious studies. He then got his Master's from Berkley.
During this time, Del's speaking career grew and developed as he matured from speaking out various youth services at his church, to outside speaking engagements to conferences and seminars. Over this time he developed into an eloquent and passionate speaker. The strength of his faith and belief only deepened. The Church leadership was impressed with his fervor and dedication, and invited Del to apply to the seminary which he did. He was ordained into the clergy in short order. During his time in seminary, Del discovered a flair for languages that he had previously not recognized. He also developed an interest in Christian 'spirituality', studying such topics as glossolalia, divine healing and miracles. Over the years, Del continued his studies in private even as he pursued his career as a speaker and minister.
It was during a speaking engagement at a conference in Texas that Del had his first bona fide 'spiritual experience'. During his private devotional time, Del received what can best be called a 'visitation'. The Bible was full of stories about Prophets who received divine visions, Saints meeting with angelic messengers and so forth. He just didn't think he'd be one of them. As Del was in the midst of prayer and meditation, he fell into a trance. While in the daze, he saw a city scene before him. He stood in the midst of a large crowd of people busily going about their routine. Suddenly an ominous darkness blackened the sky. The sun was engulfed and shadows began to rise from the ground. Within seconds, everything was virtually consumed by utter blackness.
In the vision, Del began to despair as the frightened and pained cries of the people rose around him. Then he saw something miraculous unfold. In the very heart of the dark, a single pinprick of light shone. It was only this modest source of illumination that prevented everything being blacked out. As Del watched, the small glow steadily increased in intensity until it became a blinding flash of pure white light of unimaginable force and brilliance. And once the flash had gone, the darkness had been totally dispersed and the scene returned to normal.
As he stood there confused, a Man descended before him from the sky. Dressed in brilliant white and his face radiating a soft warm light, the Messenger spoke to him: "Arise and shine for your light has come." That said, the Messenger touched Del and the Priest found himself flooded by the warm white light as the glow surrounded and infused him. At the 'divine' touch, Del felt that something within him had definitely changed, though he did not know what. As he stood there, stunned, the Messenger spoke one last thing to him: "You must seek and save the Lost. Go therefore to the City of Sin." That said, the Man disappeared from sight and Del found himself back in his hotel room.
Utterly confused and perplexed by his experience, Del did not immediately know what to do. What happened to him? What did the vision mean? Where was he supposed to go? Where was this 'City of Sin'? Fortunately after a bit of research, he was able answer the last question. Indeed there was a place on Earth known as ‘Sin City’. Packing up his belongings, he has headed off to his destination: Las Vegas, Nevada.
