So, you want to build yourself a house, apartment, restaurant, or club? Great! If you're looking for just one room, go into the Building Nexus and take a look at the Roommaker. Follow the directions below for descing out the room, and then submit a +request (or page Faith) to get your room hooked up to the grid.
All other building on is done by sending in a +request with the details of what you wish to have built. Our buildstaff will then construct the 'skeleton' of the structure, @digging out the rooms and linking up the exits, before turning the project over to you to finish. The +request should include:
- What the structure to be built is (house, apartment, club, etc).
- Which neighborhood/economic area the structure should ultimately be located in. See 'news locales'.
- How many rooms you'll need. A loft or studio is one room. An apartment is one or two. Houses are anywhere from three to five. (Note: Unless there are a large number of people living in the structure, we generally do not allow more than five rooms per structure).
- A run-down of how you want the rooms to link together. For example:
- Outside of house/porch: links to Living Room
- Living Room: links to Outside, Bedroom, Kitchen
- Bedroom: links to Living Room
- Kitchen: links to Living Room, Back yard
- Back Yard: links to Kitchen
Once your +request has been processed, the bare bones structure will be linked into the Building Nexus, ready for you to complete.
In order to complete your building project, you need to set the descriptions of the rooms, including any places and +views (see +help places and +help +view).
To set the room's description, do the following. Keep in mind that the first paragraph will automatically tab. Each additional paragraph should have %R%T placed at the beginning of it to format properly.
&rdesc here=What the room will look like.%r%tMore of what the room will look like.
For more information on what %R and %T do, please see 'help substitutions'.
Once you have set the &rdesc in all rooms, please use +myjobs to comment on the original build job that your structure is ready for final inspection and linking of the structure to the grid.
